Type A started the way the best things in Austin do — not with a business plan, but with a poker game, a paintball trip, and a Craigslist ad. Fifteen years later, the four of us are still here, still playing together, and still having the time of our lives doing it. You can hear it the moment we hit the first song.

We play the songs other bands won't touch — not because they're obscure, but because they're hard to do right. We don't do 4 chords and a general melody. We're particular about the details, true to the original, and uncompromising about quality.

 

Our catalog runs over 200 songs across rock, alternative, pop-punk, emo, grunge, and indie, and every setlist is curated for the room and the crowd. You could see us four times in a month and never hear the same show twice. That's why our regulars keep coming back — and why first-timers become regulars.

The proof is in the rooms. Six consecutive years of First Fridays at Speakeasy doesn't happen by accident. It happens because the room fills, the crowd stays, and the venue keeps calling. That's the same story at The Highball, where we had a line out the door and a one-in, one-out policy at its peak.  And at RockIts in Corpus Christi, where the owner told us after our first show it was the best first-time turnout the venue had ever seen. Venues that book us once tend to book us again.

We're four friends who put friendship first and have kept this fun for 15 years — because when you genuinely love being on stage together, the audience feels it. We are not phoning it in.
